This beautifully carved Ash carving is finished with Danish oil and food safe wax oil to protect the wood for years to come and bring out the best of the woods natural grain.
A finger labyrinth is a meditation, prayer or mindfulness awakening tool . Which can be used to calm and open the mind, both through use of the labyrinth and through holding the carefully shaped and smooth wood in your hands.
Here I quote from scientific research into the wonder of wood -
“Wood has properties, which makes it a restorative material. In previous studies, wood material has been shown to affect activity of human autonomic nervous system and to relieve stress. People have been shown to have more positive emotions in wooden rooms and the mere touching of wooden materials can have a calming effect."
Chakravyuha and the Labyrinth
Chakra means "Spinning wheel" and Vyuha means a "Formation".
The ancient symbol of the Chakravyuha dates back to the Manu Samhita, Pancaratra Agamas and the Great Epic of Mahabharata. There is much mystery surrounding the meaning of this universal form, which has been found in all corners of the World.
Chakravyuha/Labyrinths are temples that enhance, balance and bring a sense of the sacred – a place where we are in unity with the Cosmic Reality, Brahman. Awaken our Prana or Life force by elevating to Chitta, pure Intelligence or Consciousness.
This piece was made by David a passionate wood artist, he creates from a thriving workshop in Somerset, England. He founded The Grain Attraction to embrace his love of working with wood. A natural material he has a passion for and connection at a soul level.
The central themes of his work are ancient symbols. Sacred geometry, and nature. All the wood used is either reclaimed or sourced from a local family run saw mill. Wood is chosen on a design by design basis to enhance the piece in harmony with the natural wood grain.
David’s work has sold locally, nationally and internationally. He hopes you enjoy his work as much as he enjoyed making it for you.
