A finger labyrinth is a meditation, prayer or mindfulness awakening tool . Which can be used to calm and open the mind, both through use of the labyrinth and through holding the carefully shaped and smooth wood in your hands.
Here I quote from scientific research into the wonder of wood -
“Wood has properties, which makes it a restorative material. In previous studies, wood material has been shown to affect activity of human autonomic nervous system and to relieve stress. People have been shown to have more positive emotions in wooden rooms and the mere touching of wooden materials can have a calming effect."
The Cretan Labyrinth
The CRETAN labyrinth is one of the oldest at least 4,000 years and simplest labyrinth pattern in the world. It’s name was derived from an early representation on the Isle of Crete. This design is also referred to as the Classical 7-Circuit design and can be used as a template for the seven major energy centres of the physical body known as Chakras. Understanding the quality of each of these energy centres as it relates to a specific path or circuit on the design, assists you to consciously gain insight into and seek answers to the complexities of life.
This piece was made by David a passionate wood artist, he creates from a thriving workshop in Somerset, England. He founded The Grain Attraction to embrace his love of working with wood. A natural material he has a passion for and connection at a soul level.
The central themes of his work are ancient symbols. Sacred geometry, and nature. All the wood used is either reclaimed or sourced from a local family run saw mill. Wood is chosen on a design by design basis to enhance the piece in harmony with the natural wood grain.
David’s work has sold locally, nationally and internationally. He hopes you enjoy his work as much as he enjoyed making it for you.
