Triskele Wood Pendant Necklace
Beautiful Triskele pendant engraved on both sides as standard in this attractive and hard wearing Oak.
This is a trilateral symbol consisting of three interlocked spirals. This is known to be one the oldest Irish Celtic symbols. It was discovered on the Newgrange kerbstones.
Newgrange is a prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland. It is a grand passage tomb built during the Neolithic period around 3200 BC. Thus makes it older than both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.
Triskeles feature prominently in ancient and modern Celtic art. The three spirals symbolise the trinity. Whether its the realms of material existence, earth, water and sky. Or spiritual, physical and celestial.
If you read more on the Triskele you find many more interpretations.
Here I quote from scientific research into the wonder of wood -
“Wood has properties, which makes it a restorative material. In previous studies, wood material has been shown to affect activity of human autonomic nervous system and to relieve stress. People have been shown to have more positive emotions in wooden rooms and the mere touching of wooden materials can have a calming effect."
The engraving measures 41 mm Across, 46 mm top to bottom
The Black Hemp cord measures approx 70 cm long and can be tied as you desire.
Why Hemp Cord?
The industrial, medicinal and commercial properties of hemp have been known for a very long time, but its benefits to the environment have just been realised in recent years. Many industries looking for sustainable and eco-friendly processes are turning to hemp. Its cultivation does not need any particular climate or soil, and is thus found in all parts of the world.
This cord is dyed with AZO free & lead free inks and eco friendly dyes. Colour fast.
This cord is lightly waxed with corn and potato starch.
This Item should be removed when showering or bathing as the wood grain will rise and potentially feel rough to the touch.
This piece was made by David a passionate wood artist, he creates from a thriving workshop in Somerset, England. He founded The Grain Attraction to embrace his love of working with wood. A natural material he has a passion for and connection at a soul level.
The central themes of his work are ancient symbols. Sacred geometry, and nature. All the wood used is either reclaimed or sourced from a local family run saw mill. Wood is chosen on a design by design basis to enhance the piece in harmony with the natural wood grain.
David’s work has sold locally, nationally and internationally. He hopes you enjoy his work as much as he enjoyed making it for you.
